Lucrezia Ciotti Francesco Occhiuto, 30 years old, son of Senator Mario Occhiuto and nephew of the President of the Calabria Region, is dead during the night after falling from the eighth floor of his home in Cosenza.
Francesco Occhiuto is dead: he fell from the eighth floor
Francesco Occhiuto fell from the eighth floor of his home shortly after 20pm yesterday evening, February 21st. Transported athospital Annunziata in very serious conditions, doctors tried to revive him with assisted mechanical ventilation, but all efforts were in vain. The young man died during the night.
La dynamic of the tragedy is still unclear. Francesco Occhiuto fell from the window of his home, located on the eighth floor. His body is now in the morgue of Cosenza, while the prosecutor Mariangela Farro is conducting the investigations to shed light on the incident.
Politics mourns Francesco Occhiuto's death
Numerous national and regional politicians, from all sides, have expressed their closeness to the family Eyes, entrusting messages of condolence. Among the various, there were also heartfelt messages from the main authorities of the State, from the President of the Council Meloni to the President of Forza Italia Tajani.
“With all of Forza Italia I am fraternally close to Mario Occhiuto for the tragic death of his son. In this very difficult moment we gather in prayer so that his immense pain may be lighter. I also extend my affectionate thoughts to his friend Roberto and to the entire Occhiuto family”, writes the deputy prime minister and leader of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, in X.
“Deep condolences for the tragic passing of Francesco Occhiuto, son of Senator Mario Occhiuto and nephew of the President of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto. In this moment of great pain I wish to send my deepest sympathy. to all their family and loved ones”. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote this on X.
The President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa also expressed his opinion on the dramatic event, with a post on Facebook:
”I learned of the tragic death of Francesco Occhiuto, son of Forza Italia senator Mario Occhiuto. Terrible news that leaves us all shocked and deeply saddened. To Senator Mario Occhiuto, to his family, to the Forza Italia group, my personal and Senate condolences go”.
In the meantime, the president of the Regional Council, Filippo Mancuso, has decided to postpone the session scheduled for Monday. For the same reason, the provincial coordination of Brothers of Italy and National Youth of Cosenza has canceled the demonstration "In love with Politics" scheduled for today at the Provincial Palace, while the League has canceled an event scheduled in Catanzaro.
